About

who KYI is, its mission and objectives with how to reach it

Introduction

The Kurdish Youth Initiative (KYI) is an independent, student-led online platform established in 2026. It was created to connect Kurdish student societies and individual Kurdish students across the United Kingdom while encouraging collaboration with students internationally.

KYI is a non-partisan organisation with no affiliation to any political party or movement. A shared commitment to Kurdish identity, culture, language, history and community unites it.

Mission

To strengthen the Kurdish student community by promoting unity, cultural awareness, education, leadership and mutual support among Kurdish students in the UK and beyond.

Objectives

The Initiative aims to:

  • Strengthen connections between Kurdish students in the UK and internationally.
  • Organise cultural, historical, social, educational and linguistic events.
  • Promote and preserve Kurdish language, culture, heritage and identity.
  • Support academic collaboration, networking and professional development among Kurdish students.
  • Encourage dialogue, inclusivity and mutual respect within the Kurdish student community.
  • Raise awareness of Kurdish history, culture and issues affecting the Kurdish people through peaceful, educational and lawful activities.
  • Collaborate with universities, student societies and other organisations where appropriate.

Through these objectives, KYI seeks to empower Kurdish youth, strengthen their connection to their heritage and provide a united platform that amplifies the voices of Kurdish students.
